Witte Words
Happy Thursday families!
We have had a wonderful week! We are getting into a groove and we are starting to really have a routine! We are still learning rules, expectations and schedules but they are very fast learners!
We took our Reading MAPS test today and math will be tomorrow. I am sorry I did not communicate that with you earlier, I misread the schedule. My apologies.
Thank you so much for your communication and support! We have received so many wonderful gifts for our classroom! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
We are always accepting water bottles and extra snacks for hungry bellies.
I wanted to communicate with you that I am a huge communicator. Please do not hesitate to email or send me a message on REMIND if you have any questions or concerns. I am an open book and I love the communication! If you have not signed up for remind PLEASE do by texting @dhff4e to 81010
We have been talking a lot about honesty and respect. Those are two things that I really try to teach students. We also talk a lot about character and doing the right thing even when no one is watching!
In ELA: we are learning about coding words with breves (for short vowels) and macrons (with long vowels). We have been talking about the importance of syllables. Within a closed syllable, if there is a consonant after the vowel then the vowel is short (ex: tin). If there is NOT a consonant after the vowel, the vowel is long and says its name (ex: hi). In the word Rabbit the syllable is drawn between the b’s and the first b is silent to make the vowel (a) short. We are also reading books about different culture and discussing how out the different cultures and the same and different from our own. We have also reviewed nouns, verbs and adjectives.
In math: we are learning about taking the knowledge that we know about adding doubles and making 10 to solve similar problems (if 5+5=10, then 5+6 (6=5+1 = 5+5+1=11))I am also assessing them on what they already know so that I can meet where they are.
In writing: We are working on our handwriting.
We have also been doing a lot of hands on engineering using all kinds of building materials during out STEM time!
The kids have been working so hard. I am thrilled to be their teacher! Thank you for trusting me with them! I will do my best to insure the safety, health and well-being of each child while in my care.
Please reach our if you have nay questions, comments, concerns or happy thoughts!
Stay well,
Mrs. Witte
