Witte Words

 In Uncategorized

Hello all,

Happy Thursday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I am still gathering first of the year data on all of the kiddos! We are also done with Reading and Math MAP testing. They are such a cool class.

This week we are working on procedures and I am assessing each child in reading, math and writing.  We are having a small pizza party on Friday to celebrate growing on MAP testing! If you do not want your child to participate, please let me know in a private message. Congratulations, scholars!

In ELA: we are working on inflectional endings, when to have twin consonants, when to use an apostrophe and when to use ‘s’, ‘es’ and ‘ies’, key details, characters, setting, events, long and short vowels and how to code words with breves, macrons, syllables and silent letters.

In Writing: we are working on handwriting. I am telling them that the lines “matter”. I am also teaching them the 4 square method for brainstorming.

In Math: I am assessing the students on Chapter One (Fluency– Add and Subtract within 20). This chapter includes adding and subtracting with models, mental math, doubles and near doubles with fluency and number sense. If your student has mastered the assessment, we will move right along. If you student needs additional instruction on this chapter, I will work with his/her to achieve understanding.

I have attached a tentative daily schedule if you would like to take a look.

In the coming weeks:

We will begin “Fun Friday” in a few weeks. We are going to kick our Project Based Learning (PBL) off with Contraction Surgery. We will need a few supplies for this project. If you would like to donate an item, please see the amazon list link here (items will disappear when they have been purchased (there are a LOT of Band-Aids needed) —-> https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8KP32KWVCHJ?ref_=wl_share

Thank you so much for your support!

We have a local author coming to speak to us (and the whole school) about her book! The book is called Core Matters More by Alison Fleming. I will be sending out a link to order her book (she will be signing books) as soon as I receive it!

Peter Quill’s password would be: Peter1976

Opportunities to give to our classroom: If you would like to give to our classroom or know someone that would like to, the best way to do it is through the classroom Amazon Wishlist. It ships right to the school. As of now, the most desired items are STEM items, items for our “calm down space” and books (always). Thank you so much for your support. Here is the list https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/122H7V7CD1RGO?ref_=wl_share
